Hi! Happy Summer! I’m here tits-deep in summer with long, beautiful 16 hour days on my feet and an ungodly amount of unreplied text messages because I’ve been off farming and swimming and hiking and grilling and walking and wrapping up grad projects and planning parties and having cook outs and enjoying all the fluorescent moments that summer offers. And while I love these absurdly gorgeous summer days, it also leaves me a little MIA from worlds outside of my days, which is to say, I have so much I can’t wait to share!
But between now and then, I wanted to send out a quick shawty with poetry updates and a besisto from this liminal window of summer as we are suspended in the fullness of the season.
(See below for a little vid I took last week as I walked the fields between farm tasks. We had just finished returning the harvested squash to the barn before heading back out to harvest lacinato kale still sparkling with dew.)
3 quick poetry updates!
I have some published poems and I have an upcoming reading!
My poem “Cauldron of Change” was picked up by Wildscape. Literary Journal for their first special edition centered around women’s and mother’s voices. Ophelia was such a thoughtful editor to work with and I am so honored to have my voice included in this collection. This poem was birthed from the convening of ancient women in ancient headwaters— a women’s gathering in Crested Butte back in the fall of 2023, one month before I moved to WNC. It is the ancient song of women, the ancient song of earth.

And a second poem of mine, “Money Ghosts” was released for publication on July 4th as part of an inaugural issue for The Pill Magazine— an online magazine dedicated to the principles of Protest Imagination Liberation and Love. The editor Binx is so supportive and encouraging of the role of poetry as protest and I am so proud to be a part of this amazing issue they put together.

Lastly, I’ll be in the Gunnison Valley next week as I come together with my fellow comrades as poets in residency where we’ll craft and ceremony and celebrate our MFA graduation! As part of my thesis completion, I will be participating in a live reading where I will share a bit about my thesis project and read a wee bit of poems <3
If you are in the Valley, plz come!! It will be a lovely gathering with snacks and wine and voices filling the air!
And if you live anywhere other than Gunni, but would still like to view, I am happy to share with you a zoom link for the virtual webinar: https://western.zoom.us/j/91900692396
Much more to come, all good things— all in good time.
Until then,
Happy Summer!!
XO
See you - hug you - hear you - in Gunni - so soon!
